ULWS HISTORY
The University of Lagos was established in 1962 by an act of parliament, thus becoming the first university so established and the second in the country, coming after University of Ibadan, which was established in 1948. On 3 October, 1962, the University threw its gates open to the first set of students numbering 100, made up of 28 students in the Medical School, 46 in the Faculty of Commerce and 26 in the Faculty of Law.

To provide enabling, social, recreational and educational facilities for members of the University Community and its environs.

OBJECTIVES:
The University of Lagos Women Society will initiate and undertake activities which shall:
- Develop and establish a relationship with the Faculty of Education and allow the four best female students in Early Childhood Education do their teaching practice in the ULWS School;
- Establish an annual lecture series focusing on women who have made significant accomplishments in the University Community; and
- Establish a ULWS endowment prize for the best female graduating student in the University.
